Vince Zampella, a Gaming Pioneer, Has Died in a California Traffic Collision
Vince Zampella, the mind behind the wildly popular first-person shooter Call of Duty, has died in a vehicle crash in the state of California at the age of 55.
Zampella's death was announced by Electronic Arts, which owns Respawn Entertainment, a game studio he co-founded.
The influential game designer died after his vehicle was involved in a crash and burst into flames on a motorway in the Los Angeles area on Sunday, US media outlets report.
"This is a heartbreaking loss, and our hearts are with his family and friends, those closest to him, and all those touched by his legacy," an official with Electronic Arts said.
